Green Pigeons
Pigeons have colonized a huge part of the globe,
But there is one group found only in the tropics,
The colorful fruit doves and the green pigeons.
They are unique to the tropical forest.
Pigeons are fascinating birds. The human fascination with pigeons stretches back to the ancient Sumerian times or beyond. The domestication of pigeons has evolved into a kind of fine art. There are hundreds of varieties of domesticated pigeons, and all subcontinent including Bangladesh support six of these colorful bird species.
Rock pigeons: Green pigeons are unlike the rock pigeons, they are fruit eaters, and this is why they are forest dependent. They require mature natural forests with soft and fleshy fruit bearing treed, especially figs.
Beautiful Photograph: My quest to photograph these beautiful birds began in earnest in 2005. Before undertaking such a difficult task. I decided to chart out the locations where these birds were sighted in the past wither or by me or by other birdwatchers.
